Police conducted a dramatic helicopter rescue after a man was spotted clinging to a cliff above a California beach.
The man, who was not named, was seen clinging to the cliff face and yelling for help above Baker Beach, a popular hiking spot in San Francisco, shortly before 1pm on Sunday, officials said.
San Francisco fire department and California highway patrol were alerted to the incident after a bystander saw the man and called 911, according to Fox Weather.
Footage of the incident shows the man stuck to the cliff high above the beach as a helicopter approaches.
A highway patrol officer hanging from a rope attached to the helicopter lifted the man from the rock face before the pair were returned safely to the ground on the beach.
It is unclear how the man became stuck on the cliff in the first place.
